Please read the following carefully:
1. Discuss your plans to study in Germany with your
faculty advisor and the study abroad advisor of your
university/college. When you meet with your faculty advisor, have him/her give
you a list of graduation requirements and courses you need to take to make
satisfactory progress toward your degree while in Germany.
2. If you choose to use
the pdf-application form, fill in the required fields on-line and then
print the form for your signature. If you choose to use the word
document-application form, write/print using black ink or
type/word process.
3. Letters of recommendation: Please ask two
faculty who know your academic work for a recommendation. If you
studied German recently, include one faculty member who has had you in a
German language or literature class
4. Transcripts: Please attach a copy of your
transcript to the application and ask your registrar to send an official copy as
soon as possible.
5. Deadlines:
Applications must be received in our office by April
1st for the Fall semester and October 15th
for the Spring semester. It is important to note that your college or
university may have its own earlier application deadline. Make sure to check
with your Study Abroad Office for any relevant deadlines.
6. Financial Information: Please use the
BW-Scholarship Application Form to explain any circumstances you want the
Scholarship Committee to be aware of as they make awards. Be as specific ass
possible in describing the amount of scholarship aid you will need to make study
in Germany possible. If you are already receiving financial aid, be aware
that a scholarship for study abroad may affect the amount of financial aid you
are already receiving. Attach a financial aid transcript from your
institution if applicable.
7. Photos: Please attach four passport size photos of
yourself to the application. These photos are required for your housing
applications.
8. Passport: If you do not have a valid passport,
apply for one immediately after you receive your acceptance notice. Passport
applications are available at your local post office.
Once you have finished your application, you must check with
the Study Abroad Office at your university/college to determine where the
application should be sent. Your university/college may require that the
application be given directly to their Study Abroad Office. If your university
does not require this send the application and all supporting materials to:
