The Connecticut Commission on National and Community
Service (CCNCS), headquartered in Hartford, Connecticut, was established
by an Executive Order of the Governor in 1993, pursuant to the National
and Community Service Trust Act of 1993. The Commission’s purpose is to:
-
encourage community service and volunteer participation
as a means of community and state problem-solving
-
promote and support voluntary citizen involvement in government and private programs throughout the State
-
develop a long-term, comprehensive vision and plan for
action for community service initiatives in Connecticut
-
serve as the State's liaison to national and state
organizations which support its mission
Administered by the Connecticut Department of Higher
Education, CCNCS envisions a vibrant Connecticut with caring communities
strengthened by community service and volunteerism. Within the areas of
civic engagement, education, environment, human needs and public safety,
the Commission commits to engage, expand and enhance community service
experiences in Connecticut. |
| The Connecticut Commission on National and Community
Service is dedicated to incorporating volunteerism into a positive
personal experience to strengthen communities. |
