ALTERNATE ROUTE TO CERTIFICATION

Position Opening:  Secondary Math Methods Instructor

The Alternate Route to Certification Program (ARC) is seeking two secondary level mathematics teachers to teach mathematics curriculum development and instructional methods to aspiring 7-12 math teachers in the 2008-09 ARC II weekend program.  In ARC, each methods class has two instructors who share teaching responsibilities and on some days team teach.  This is a part-time position, and the teaching schedule will be determined in collaboration with the instructor who is determined to be the lead teacher for the math program.  The program is housed at 61 Woodland Street in Hartford, CT.

During the upcoming ARC II program, all methods instruction takes place on select Saturdays from October 24, 2008 – May 2, 2009. 

Each position is an hourly position at $40 per hour of instructional time, and includes preparatory requirements.  The math instructor who is designated as the lead teacher will also receive an additional stipend of $480 for some additional planning and development efforts.  These positions are durational state employment appointments, with no benefits.

ALTERNATE ROUTE TO CERTIFICATION

Position Opening:  Site Facilitator

The Alternate Route to Certification Program (ARC) is seeking a Site Facilitator.  This position is part-time and will work fourteen (14) hours per week on Fridays and Saturdays during the program.  The program is housed at 61 Woodland Street in Hartford, CT.

Duties of this position include:

·  Serve as the liaison between ARC II (weekend program) and central office staff.
·  Record attendance of ARC faculty.
·  Record and monitor attendance and punctuality of students at core sessions.
·  Arrange for supplies, copying, room set up for the methods courses.
·  Facilitate core sessions, including setting up technology and introducing presenters.
·  Address or refer student problems as required.
·  Address or refer all building maintenance problems as required.
·  Assist the ARC central office staff in maintaining program records, including mid-term and final evaluations from the faculty and submission of assignments and other paperwork from the students.
·  Participate in the program orientation and graduation ceremony.
·  All other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

BA preferred; at least 3 years of related program operations experience.  Computer literacy, excellent communication skills, proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision is also required.

Salary:

This position will earn $20/hour.  There are no benefits associated with this position which is durational and part-time.
