Alternate Route to Teacher CertificationApplication Instructions If you are a reapplicant to the ARC program, please click here to resume. If you have previously started the online application, click here to resume. If this is the first time you are applying to ARC, please proceed with the following instructions. Application to Connecticut’s Alternate Route to Certification program (ARC) must be made online. The following instructions will help ensure that your application is complete. Please note that in addition to completing the online application, you must submit several documents in hard copy to ARC These documents are identified in the online application. We recommend that you print a copy of these instructions for future reference. Before Completing the Application 1. Read the 2010 ARC catalog. 2. Register for the Praxis I Examinations (if you have not already passed them) or Apply for the Praxis I Waiver – Click here if you need information about this requirement. 3. Register for the Oral Proficiency Interview If Needed (world language candidates only) - Click here if you need information about this requirement. 4. Request Transcripts – Arrange for your undergraduate and any graduate transcripts to be sent directly to ARC. 5. Obtain a Foreign Credential Review for a Bachelor’s Degree from Outside the U.S. - Click here if you need information about this requirement. 6. Identify Three References – You will need three current references as part of your application. Filling Out the Application Online 1. Complete All Eight Sections of the Application. Note that you do not have to complete the application in one sitting. At the beginning of the application, you will establish a login and password so that you may return to your application as often as you desire, up to the time that you submit the application. Be aware that: a. While you are working on the application, you need to permit pop-ups in your internet browser and/or toolbars. Important information for responding to questions will be provided in pop-ups, and your reference forms cannot be accessed and printed if you do not permit pop-ups. b. When you are working on your application, if you stay on one page for more than 20 minutes without saving your data, you will have to log in again and will lose any information you have inputted but not saved. c. Once you submit your application, you will not be able to make additional changes to it. d. We strongly suggest that you print each page of the application after you have completed it so that you have a copy of your application. 2. Print, Sign, and Mail the Signature Page and Include a Resume - Once you have completed your application, you need to print a copy of the “Signature Page.” Sign the page and mail it to ARC, along with your $75 check for the application fee and a copy of your current resume.

Monitor the Completeness of Your Application – You should monitor the completeness of your application to be certain that ARC has received all required documents (e.g., transcripts, recommendations, etc.).
